NEW INFRARED APPLICATIONS THAT DETECT MISSING STRUCTURAL REINFORCEMENTS

BE-CI uses infrared thermography to detect missing structural reinforcement in High Rise Buildings. Although Infrared Thermography has traditionally been used to trace moisture intrusion and electrical anomalies, BE-CI has developed a system to utilize this equipment to expose critical omissions of embedded structural reinforcement in High Rise Construction. These discoveries have provided identification of specific areas of omission so that the missing reinforcement steel and concrete grout can be replaced and the finishes repaired.

BE-CI has completed investigation and repairs on 6 major projects in Florida and Alabama and currently has two other High Rise projects prepared for restoration to begin. The photographs and infrared images being shown depict the accuracy of the BE-CI system to detect and locate the missing reinforcement. The dark vertical lines represent cells of the CMU that were properly filled while the light colored areas show absence of the reinforced grout or discontinuous application from floor to floor.
