The Island Echos Condominium on Okaloosa Island, Florida was constructed with 3 metal pan stairways. BE-CI was asked to investigate and advise the management that corrosion within the pans had advanced to a point if the stairs were no longer safe to use. Our recommendation was to replace the treads and risers with pre-cast concrete units that would be supported by angles welded to the existing stringers. Utilizing plasma arc cutting methods allowed clean cuts without damage to the existing stringers. The entire six story project was completed in 3 weeks.
